Our Doctors
Our team of GPs are NDC (neurodevelopmentally protective care) accredited, often known as the Possums Program. They have undertaken this specialised training to help your family holistically whilst delivering evidence-based care. We are proud to have dual-qualified General Practitioners and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC).
Dr Monique Portelli
Dr Monique Portelli is a GP and Breastfeeding Medicine doctor. She completed her medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2012, followed by a Certificate of Women's Health with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, a Master of Public Health, and Fellowship of General Practice. She is accredited in Neuroprotective Developmental Care (Possums).
She has breastfed three children, including one born premature. Along the way she was given a great deal of well-meaning but conflicting advice and noticed a gap in breastfeeding education. This led to volunteer work supporting mothers through the Australian Breastfeeding Association, and working towards International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification. She is passionate about supporting families collaboratively and holistically during this season.
She provides comprehensive mother-baby consultations addressing breastfeeding and feeding concerns, infant cry-fuss problems, perinatal mental health, and infant sleep challenges.
Dr Rachel Cameron
Dr Rachel Cameron is a Breastfeeding Medicine doctor and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and is also accredited in Neuroprotective Developmental Care. Rachel provides compassionate patient centered care for all breastfeeding concerns, including complex breastfeeding situations.
Rachel completed her medical degree at the University of Adelaide and subsequently worked at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Women’s and Children’s Hospital in SA, before moving to Geelong and qualifying as a GP in 2005.
From 2021 she has worked as a GP-Lactation consultant, supporting families with breastfeeding and bottle feeding problems, unsettled babies and babies and toddlers with excessive night waking.
She is a member of the Breastfeeding Medicine Network of Australia, and a Fellow of the RACGP.
